Dr. Jennifer J. Carroll is a postdoctoral NIH research fellow at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She holds a PhD in anthropology and an MPH in epidemiology from the University of Washington. Her research focuses on the lived experience of drug use as well as the structural and cultural forces that shape human decisions around drug use, health care, and the strategies that people use to chemically manage their own bodies. She has been conducting research on the implementation of harm reduction and drug treatment efforts in Ukraine since 2007, and is currently writing a book on addiction, HIV, and public health during and after the Maidan revolution.
Dr. Carroll is a member of the Brown University Ukraine Collaboration, a global health initiative at Brown, which has provided support for the work published in Krytyka.
